— Superman[src]

Superman is a minor character in the TV series, Harley Quinn. He is the protector of Metropolis and a member of the Justice League.

Appearance[]

Superman is a tall and muscular male with dark brown hair. As Superman, he wears a blue skintight suit and red cape with a red and yellow 'S' symbol on his chest. As his alter ego, Clark Kent, he wears glasses and dresses in a white button-up shirt and a red tie.

Biography[]

Background[]

Superman, born Kal-El, is a powerful Kryptonian who came to Earth as a baby when his home planet, Krypton, was dying. He is the protector of Metropolis and a member of the Justice League. As a civilian, he works as Clark Kent, a journalist at the Daily Planet and the boyfriend of Lois Lane.

Before officially meeting, Superman and Lois moved to Metropolis simultaneously and lived on the same block. They worked alongside each other on the 17th floor at the Daily Planet, where Lois was a beat reporter covering City Hall while Superman covered football at the sports desk. However, for three whole years, they never met until one day, the supervillain derailed Lois' train Metallo. After Metallo sent the train in the air, Superman caught it and set it down on the LexCorp building to talk to Lois.[1]

In the 1980s, Superman helped take down Queen of Fables, who was trying to take over Gotham City with her army of fairytale characters from her magical storybook. After the Justice League managed to defeat her and her army, they imprisoned her in a U.S. Tax Code book as punishment for her crimes.[2]

Season 1[]

"So You Need a Crew"[]

Superman is first seen in a flashback to the 1980s when the Queen of Fables retells the story of how she was imprisoned in a U.S. Tax Code book by the Justice League after almost taking over Gotham City with her fairy-tale creatures.

"Finding Mr. Right"[]

He makes his first full appearance when Harley Quinn kidnaps Lois Lane after she wrote an unfavorable article about her fighting Robin. However, Superman thought she was just upset about the $7.99 monthly paywall, which did not even include crosswords on her online news site, the Daily Planet. Harley gets excited at the prospect of fighting Superman, but instead, her present Robin breaks through the wall as well, and he urges him to fight and leaves. Later, he and Lois went out for sushi at Takashi's restaurant, where they watched Harley's and Poison Ivy's fight with Batman and The Joker on the Tawny Young show.

"L.O.D.R.S.V.P."[]

Although he did not appear here, Clayface transforms into Superman in an attempt to convince Aquaman to leave the Legion of Doom's headquarters. However, Aquaman saw through the disguise and knocked Clayface's head off with his trident, transforming him into clay.

"Devil's Snare"[]

Superman story book

Superman is captured by Queen of Fables

Superman, along with his Justice League colleagues Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern arrives in Gotham City to stop Scarecrow's mutated tree monsters from taking over the city. Superman used his laser vision to burn through many trees, and their efforts effectively saved Harley and her crew. However, they captured them, believing them responsible for the chaos due to Poison Ivy's ability to control plants. Superman prepared to banish them to the Phantom Zone, but Ivy managed to grab onto Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth and wrap it around herself, proving they were innocent. Superman closed the portal and demanded to know who was responsible, but before they could learn the truth, Queen of Fables showed up and trapped them all in her storybook as revenge for the past. Superman is the last to fight back against getting sucked into the book until Fables pushes him down with her spear, trapping him there with the rest of the team.

Season 2[]

"A Fight Worth Fighting For"[]

Over and over again

"They made us listen to the same songs. Over and over again."

After Doctor Psycho took over Gotham by taking control of Darkseid's Parademons, Harley realized that she needed to get the Justice League back to stop him and clean up her mess. She tracked down the Queen of Fables storybook and had Batman call Zatanna Zatara, who used a spell to free them. They were thankful to be back, claiming that place was hell, with Superman reiterating how they were forced to listen to the same songs repeatedly. Batman brought them up to speed on what had happened while they were gone, and they left to take down the Parademon army.

"Lovers' Quarrel"[]

Wonder Woman
Where is Doctor Psycho?
[Parademon screeches unintelligibly]
[Wonder Woman looks at Superman]
Superman
Oh, what? Because I'm an alien, I understand all alien languages?
[Wonder Woman's eye's widen in distress]
Superman
Okay. I know a little Parademon, but it's still a racist assumption. Be better.
[Wonder Woman rolls her eyes]

Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman fought back against the Parademon infestation in Gotham. After Superman attacks the Parademon nest itself, throwing the colossal hive miles away from Gotham into the air, Wonder Woman kidnaps a Parademon and demands to know Doctor Psycho's location. However, since she doesn't understand Parademon, she looks to Superman for translation help, who is offended she thinks he knows all alien languages, although eventually admits that he does know some Parademon although encouraging her to be better. The League goes after Poison Ivy, who is being mind-controlled by Doctor Psycho. Superman launches into a meandering warning to Ivy, which Wonder Woman succinctly summarizes as "We don't wanna have to take you out, but if you don't give us another option, we will".

Get off me you angry dolphin

"Get off me, you angry dolphin."

As Psycho sends Clayface and King Shark to aide Ivy, Superman tries to help when Ivy starts to gain the upper hand, but cannot move as King Shark has bitten his ankle. Eventually, he frees himself and ducks for the cars Ivy throws at them with her vines. As Wonder Woman and Batman are distracted by Clayface and King Shark, Superman takes on Poison Ivy, but Harley interrupts, throwing a rock at Superman, which fails even to affect him. Ivy grows her vines around Superman and spins him around, but he uses his super-strength to gain the upper hand instead of launching her across Gotham. Superman follows her into Riddler University, where she crushes him with a massive amalgamation of plants. While he fights off the plant, Poison Ivy kidnaps Harley.

Superman, now once again joined by Batman and Wonder Woman, follows Poison Ivy to the top of Wayne Tower. After Superman severed the vines Ivy was controlling, Wonder Woman captures her with her lasso, Harley once again intervene, pushing Superman and demanding that they don't kill her. However, Superman explains that they are merely sending her to the Phantom Zone, believing her to be too dangerous to let be. However, before they could do anything, Psycho controlled Ivy to release her pheromones on the Trinity, who became too horny and focused on each other to continue the fight. Superman obsessively looked at his pecs and asked a grossed-out Harley if she wanted to feel them.

"Something Borrowed, Something Green"[]

Outside Gotham City Hall, Superman, alongside other heroes, received a key to the city from the Mayor of Gotham for saving the city.

During their segment on the show, Lois and Superman gave testimonials about the story of how they met and their romance, with Lois correcting Superman various times as he didn't remember small details such as what floor at the Daily Planet they worked on at the time or the sport he covered while working there. Their segment on the show ended with them finishing the story of their meeting.

Season 4[]

"The First Person to Come Back From a Business Conference Without Chlamydia"[]

Superman tries coffee

Clark Kent affected by the coffee

Clark Kent was reporting on the MalCon conference on the moon, representing the Daily Planet, having spent a week there watching the conference come together. He got an exclusive with Lex Luthor, where he bragged about his success and made a dig at the Daily Planet for normally only covering Superman. As Clark tried to inquire about Lex's upcoming unveiling, he was offered a cup of coffee, which affected him unexpectedly and made him hyper and scream. He excitedly threw the empty mug on the floor before asking Lex about his new CEO of the Legion of Doom: Poison Ivy. He took notes as Lex bragged about his forward thinking in hiring her.

Wow! What's this feeling? It's like my head is spinning, and my tummy is a-rumbly. But I also feel happy
— Superman on alcohol

He was later seen watching Alfred Pennyworth's booth, where he presented his prison toilet vines. He got a taste of red, immediately feeling the strong effects of the alcohol. Later, he attended Lex's panel where he unveiled his "Earth Saver", but just like most of the press, he ignored Lex in favor of Poison Ivy, saying he would love to use her as their latest cover before an enraged Lex's pumped his calves so much they exploded, splashing blood into the audience where a shocked Clark watched. As Lex orders everyone to leave, opening all the windows and causing people to flee, Clark takes off his glasses, preparing to save the day as Superman, only to fall to the ground after trying to fly. Realizing Luthor had lined the place with trace amounts of kryptonite, he commented that that "explains a lot actually".

"Metamorphosis"[]

Superman attended Nightwing's funeral, paying his respects. After the service, he flew off alongside his other Justice League teammates.

"The Most Culturally Impactful Film Franchise of All Time"[]

Superman and Wonder Woman to the rescue

When Poison Ivy and the Natural Disasters were hijacking the truck transporting the Time Sphere, Superman and Wonder Woman came to stop them. He used his laser vision to cut the vines Ivy used to control the driver but Tefé Holland soon used their connection to the green to mind control them in Ivy's place. Ivy then used her vines to pick up a family and throw them into the air to get Superman off his tail; he flew away to save them as Ivy screamed, "Fetch, doggy!".

Later, after Ivy and Harley travel 25 years forward to an apocalyptic future controlled by a middle-aged Robin, Superman is seen in a frozen state, kept as a trophy alongside many others like him by Robin in the future version of the Batcave.

"Il Buffone"[]

Where is the nearest tanning salon? Do we still have those? As a culture?
— Superman

After Lex Luthor has thrown the world into chaos by using his new invention to thicken the ozone layer enough to block out the sun, Superman tries to stop some looters when he realizes his powers no longer work due to the lack of sun. He desperately begins to wrap himself in his cape, telling people to stay away and asking for the nearest tanning salon.

"Killer's Block"[]

With the lack of sun, Superman eventually got weak enough so that Lex could capture him. He then drained his powers and transferred them into his warsuit, taking his cape and stealing Superman's hair (which he transplanted onto his own scalp). He then put him in a cell on his moon base encased with kryptonite to keep him trapped and weak.

Powerless Superman

Superman weakened and imprisoned by Luthor

Harley stumbled upon him as she searched for the bathroom, immediately taking a picture of him in his weak state and asking if he knew where it was. He asked her to disable the kryptonite forcefield, but Harley explained she didn't want to get involved as she was out of the hero business, wanting to remain neutral. As Harley mentions Poison Ivy's plan to kill Lex, Superman exclaims how Lex has stolen his powers, causing Harley to hurry off to help Ivy while Superman screams after her to help him.

Harley saves Superman

Superman is saved by Harley

Later, after they managed to outsmart Lex, Harley and Ivy returned to where Superman was kept. However, they headed straight for Lex's laser, which they used to destroy multiple businesses in Gotham City. At the same time, Superman watched sadly from his cell. As the building began to shake, he screamed at them to stop, warning them that the moon was going to break, although some falling rubble knocked him out. As the moon began to split in two, Harley saved Superman, carrying him out in her arms. Three days later, with his powers restored, Superman used his flight and super strength to put the moon back together.

Personality[]

Unlike other incarnations, this version of Superman is more goofy and distracted, always forgetting to close his mouth when he busts into walls. He is also seen criticizing the $7.99 per month paywall of Daily Planet. Nevertheless, he retains his kindness and amiability. He gets along with Robin and is seen encouraging the kid to face Harley Quinn in combat.

He doesn't like stereotypes, so he felt insulted when Wonder Woman wanted him to translate the language of an alien who was part of the army of Darkseid and assumed he would know it because he is an alien, too.

Superman also appears to see good in others. After several encounters with Harley, especially when she begs him to spare Poison Ivy, Superman believes there's a hero in her. He is one of the only characters who believes she is not evil and can become a true hero. After Harley saves his life while the moon is being destroyed, he tells her that he always knew she was a hero rather than a supervillain.

In season five, Superman is seen having an existential crisis. Now with Metropolis' security system, crime is no longer possible. For this reason he feels no one needs him anymore, which makes him feel depressed. He tells Harley that he doesn't know who he is if he's not Superman. However, thanks to a conversation with Harley, he decides is time for him to take a break and have a sabbatical, a time for himself so he can relax and find himself.
