On November 16, 2023, it was announced that Harley Quinn had been renewed for a fifth season at Max.[6][7]
On July 4th, 2024, executive producer Dean Lorey confirmed season 5 would be released before the end of the year, saying," I don't remember the exact date yet. But I think it's in the next few months. I know that." He also confirmed that the upcoming first season of the spin-off, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, would lead into season 5 of Harley Quinn in some interesting ways but will mostly stand as its own thing. In late July, the official X account confirmed that season 5 would be released in November of that year.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, a panel featuring the crew from Harley Quinn and Kite Man: Hell Yeah! showed off an exclusive preview of the fifth season, revealing that the season would see Harley and Ivy relocating to Metropolis. It was also confirmed they would be joined by characters like King Shark, who in this season would continue coping with being a new father, Bane starting a new job at Daily Planet, as well as an appearance of Superman. It also showed Harley and Ivy's facing some relationship troubles as well as teased the arrival of new villains in the form of Lena Luthor, sister of Lex Luthor, and Brainiac.[3]
It's unclear if Barbara Gordon will appear as the voice actor hasn't read anything and doesn't know if Barbara will be around when the interview takes place.[8]
