Livewire

Livewire is a minor character on Harley Quinn. She is a supervillain who can manipulate electricity and is a member of the Legion of Doom.

Biography[]

Season 1[]

In "L.O.D.R.S.V.P.", Livewire was present at the Legion's prospective member night at Hall of Doom when Harley Quinn and KGBeast were nominated to join the Legion of Doom and later helped defend the base against Aquaman.

In "A Seat at the Table", she applauded as Harley and her crew were officially welcomed into the Legion of Doom.

Season 2[]

She was invited as a guest to Poison Ivy's attempted wedding in "Something Borrowed, Something Green" where she was seen chatting to Killer Frost, Doctor Trap and Felix Faust outside the venue before the ceremony. She later joined in to fight the GCPD when they hijacked the ceremony and was seen fighting back against the officers alongside Killer Frost and Human-Flame outside the building.

The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour[]

Escaping prison via an electronic device Calendar Man’s son brought in. Livewire discovers Harley and Poison Ivy stowing away in Nightfall’s house in Journey of Love Part 4. She reveals that Nightfall and her were dating but broke up shortly before Ivy and Kite Man’s botched wedding. Willing to still accept Ivy as a friend, she’s not quick to forgive her for getting her locked up in Arkham along with most of her wedding guests. Threatening the couple to leave the house, she gives them a villain's safe place to stay, the Cedar Evergreen Inn.

Appearing in a guilt-induced vision in Journey of Love Part 5. Livewire lays on the floor amongst the others that Ivy perceives as having betrayed and disappointed.

Forgiving Ivy, Livewire returns in Journey of Love Part 6 to assist in fighting Mephitic. Dropping from the ceiling and destroying the needle device meant to be used on Harley. Later, she would distract Commissioner Gordon, allowing Harley and Ivy to escape, thanking the girls for showing her that she needed to fight for Nightfall’s heart.

Season 3[]

She attended the Villy Awards in "The 83rd Annual Villy Awards". During "The Horse and the Sparrow" she witnesses Bruce Wayne's arrest.

Legion of Bats![]

In "Boss Bitches" Livewire materializes in front of Ivy to take part in Ivy's recruitment drive for the Legion of Doom. Ivy is pleased to see her, hugging Livewire and telling her how much she misses her as a tear comes to her eye. When Livewire asks when they will start, Ivy points out the various paperwork to fill in, with Frank chiming in from the intercom for Livewire to stop by his desk to get the paperwork.

In "BatHarl", Livewire volunteers to be part of a Legion of Doom mission organized by Ivy to intercept Black Mask and Lady Marabunta's armored transport from reaching Blackgate Penitentiary. Nightfall then teleports the task force to the Penitentiary's entrance, just in time for them to intercept the transport. Livewire is then involved in a fight with a disguised Harley Quinn, who hits her with a strong kick.

In "Where Do We Go From Here?" Livewire comments that Ivy missed a rat about Harley's perceived duplicity right before she fires lightning at Harley in revenge for their earlier fight, despite being warned not to by Batgirl, Nightfall, and Ivy. Ivy then begins to mourn Harley, thinking that the lightning has incinerated her before it is revealed that Nightfall teleported Harley away just in the nick of time. Livewire then begins to conjure up another lightning storm, muttering that it is vengeance for breaking into her girlfriend's home. Ivy then captures Livewire with several of her vines, leading to a heated moment between the two before Nightfall calms the situation and declares that she and Livewire are withdrawing from the Legion of Doom.

Trivia[]

  • Like Harley, Livewire didn't originate from the comics. Livewire made her first appearance in Superman: The Animated Series in her premiere episode "Livewire". Leslie was a radio host known as Leslie Willis in her former life. Described as a shock jock by many, she spent most of her time on the air degrading Superman and his actions. Following an accident with a concert during a storm, Leslie is struck by lightning. Gaining her new powers and taking on her title as Livewire. She will drain the power out of the city, but Superman stops her. She would reappear in several other animated properties and begin making her comic appearances. She would often flip back and forth between being a Superman-centric villain and fighting other heroes like Batgirl.
  • Rather than following her roots with her design, the show takes inspiration from her more modern appearances. Specifically, that can be seen in a run of Batgirl comics. See this cover for example. While her original design was a simple leotard with a lightning bolt down the middle, her modern design takes on more punk inspiration. Likely to tie in with her radio host origins.
  • As seen in "The First Person to Come Back From a Business Conference Without Chlamydia" her username on Waynestagram (the show's parody of Instagram) is Nmbr1ElectricBitch.
  • Throughout the Eat Bang Kill Tour run Livewire would refer to a “Girl’s Night Out” when talking to Harley and Ivy. This refers to an episode of The New Batman Adventures, which featured Livewire teaming up with Harley and Ivy.
