Appearance

Kite Man is an average Caucasian man with a mostly green outfit. His primary outfit consists of bronze boots, matching gloves, light green pants, a matching shirt and a brown belt. He has a large, yellow, kite-shaped button on his chest which goes around his shoulders to his back and releases a kite out of its holder mechanism when pressed. He has a helmet-like piece of headwear which is the only piece of clothing he has not seen without on his person, consisting of a green cowl with yellow and orange visor covering his eyes for flight, small jutting out circles on the sides where his ears would fit into, and a yellow kite crest on his forehead similar the one he has on his chest.

Biography

Season 1

"A High Bar"

Kite Man first appeared when Harley and Ivy crashed Joshua Cobblepot's bar mitzvah. There he attempted to flirt with Ivy, but she found him annoying. Later, he stole one of Ivy's potions and used it on some kids to make them fall for her, not knowing that the side effect will also cause them to turn into trees and die. He then offered to fly her back to her apartment to get the antidote. However, while at the apartment Ivy discovered Kite Man in her room preparing to have sex, but he had misinterpreted the situation and she demanded he put his clothes back on.

Ashamed, Kite Man then flew Ivy back to the Gotham Mint, apologizing for his behavior. He clumsily attempted to compliment her, but eventually just decided to be quiet and let Ivy enjoy the view over the Gotham City Park, which she begrudgingly admitted that she enjoyed, much to his satisfaction. Kite Man then arrived at the Gotham Mint where a conflict was developing between Harley and the Legion of Doom members present, forcing him to reluctantly join the fight on Ivy and Harley's side. He tried to take a weaker opponent, but ended up fighting Bane, who easily overpowered him. Eventually Bane released him and the fight resolved, allowing him to head home.

"So You Need a Crew?"

Kite Man briefly entered Noonan's Bar looking for henchmen to assist him on a heist, and easily convinced the entire bar to accompany him after Harley repeatedly failed. Harley later complained about this to Poison Ivy, who was only interested in whether Kite Man mentioned her name or not.

"Finding Mr. Right"

Kite Man watched Ivy and Harley fight Batman on the Tawny Young show from Noonan's Bar.

"The Line"

Ivy met Kite Man at his apartment for a date, having been secretly going out with him for some time now, and Kite Man gave her a bouquet of roses. Although she liked it, she still insisted on wearing a secretive outfit to protect her anonymity, and most preferred going to movies where she was even less likely to be seen. Kite Man, however, wanted to go out to eat the next time so he could "see and be seen". He indulged Ivy this time, but when next the opportunity presented itself, Kite Man made a reservation at a high-end restaurant, only for the restaurant to not respect his reservation and place him in a 40-minute wait that he insisted on staying for despite Ivy's desire to see another movie instead.

His girlfriend

"I'm Ivy. I'm...I'm his girlfriend."

Other, more famous supervillains continued to cut in front of Kite Man in line, so he suggested that Ivy drop her name to get them a table. When he Ivy didn't want to, he presumed that she was being modest, and went to do so for her, but she nearly panicked and made him stop. Confused, Kite Man finally began to realize that she was ashamed to be seen with him, and so he had an effeminate, public breakdown, revealed her name anyway, and left in anger. Ivy later went to his apartment to apologize, where Kite Man was surprisingly understanding, saying that he genuinely cares about what she thinks (and also that he cares about, quote, "dat ass"). Despite his usual crude attitude, Ivy did admit that she "like like(s)" him in return, and finally called herself his girlfriend for the first time when she met his room mate Bill, filling Kite Man with pride.

Kite Man defends Ivy

Kite Man tries to defend Ivy

Kite Man is seen to have taken a job as a caterer for the Legion of Doom in order to cover the expenses he incurs being Ivy's girlfriend and taking her out to places, which he admitted to be well worth it. On the job, he offered Bane a tray of food when he dropped a piece on the ground in order to stop him from getting angry. Then, during Aquaman's attack at the party, Kite Man tried to fight him and defend Ivy, but unfortunately, he flew directly below a hole in the glass ceiling above, getting caught in a cross wind that blasted him into the night sky above.

"Devil's Snare"

While building a new kite, Ivy called Kite Man for help, as she was stuck in the giant's kingdom from Jack and the Beanstalk after Queen of Fables sent her into the sky. Overjoyed to be able to help, Kite Man flew to her aid and tossed a hot sauce packet in the giant's eye, resulting in cheers from Harley's crew as he arrived. Although the giant did fall over in pain and toss her crew out into open space, in his element Kite Man was able to easily catch them all, either in his arms, on the back of his kite, or by extending a ladder behind himself for people to grab onto.

Kite Man kissing Ivy

Despite the weight of seven people and a wheel chair weighing him down, his self-designed kite was so well made that it only accelerated their descent rather than ripping them out of the sky outright. He controlled their fall enough that Clayface was able to launch himself to the ground and reform into a ramp, allowing for a rough but survivable landing for most of Harley's crew. With most of the weight gone, Kite Man was able to regain full control of his flight and bring himself and Ivy gently to the ground, where they began passionately kissing on the spot.

Later, Kite Man accompanied Ivy hand in hand while she went to distract the plant monsters guarding the Joker's tower, although he got winded by the time they reached the hose they were after. Ivy then prepared to drink its contaminated water in order to enlarge herself, but Kite Man took this opportunity to drop to one knee and propose to her, although he didn't have a ring at the time. Ivy put it off in favor of dealing with the imminent apocalypse, but Kite Man was still happy because it was not a "no". After she became a giantess and fought off the trees, the Joker shot her through the chest with a harpoon from his tower, mortally wounding her. Alarmed, Kite Man rushed to her side and arrived just as she died in Harley's arms, so he began sobbing at her death.

"The Final Joke"

Kite Man mourning

Kite Man says goodbye to Ivy

Kite Man mournfully attended Ivy's funeral, kissing her hand and telling her goodbye, although he lied to himself about her being his fiancée. Afterward, he couldn't bring himself to leave, so he set up camp behind Ivy's gravestone and took care of Frank the Plant for her. Harley visited the grave and found him there, and he told her about the Joker's plans to execute her crew. He gave her privacy when she wanted to say a few words over Ivy's grave, and remained there after she left. He was likely still there when Ivy resurrected and emerged from her grave, and he managed to survive the earthquake the wiped out most of Gotham City.

Season 2

"Riddle U"

Kite Man flew Harley and Ivy over towards Riddler University on his kite in order for them to blend in as College Students and figure out how Riddler has power and clean water. He made a joke about how he doesn't want Ivy to get jealous for helping two very attractive co-eds, with Harley finding it annoying while Ivy thought it was cute.

"Trapped"

Kite Man flew Ivy and Harley to Chéz Féline, sending Ivy off with a snack for later. Afterward, he lied about not wanting to go into the museum so that Ivy would go on ahead, at which point he went in with Harley, hoping to find a diamond wedding ring to propose to Ivy with. He eventually impressed Harley with how much he loved Ivy, convincing her to help him get the ring in earnest. He did get it with her help, although he ends up horribly swarmed by hornets, struck by arrowheads, and bitten by unnaturally large spiders.

Kite Man rejected again

Kite Man, injured from the traps while trying to get an engagement ring, once again fails to get Ivy to accept his proposal

Finally through the gauntlet, Kite Man was ready to propose with an actual ring this time, only to discover that Catwoman stole it before he could do so. He panicked, claiming that he could get the ring back, and clumsily tried to express his love for Ivy as she became increasingly agitated (since they were about to be crushed to death in a trap). He realized that he was messing up and tried again, eventually yelling to get her attention, at which point she snapped and told him that it wasn't the right time and probably won't ever be the right time, crushing him emotionally.

Depressed, he returned to his apartment and drank away his sorrows until Ivy arrived. She came in and apologized, but Kite Man was very understanding and more than happy to give her time to consider. He even wondered if he himself was ready, saying that he couldn't ask her a fourth time, but she was confident and had him ask - this time finally saying yes to his proposal.

"Thawing Hearts"

Kite Man was panicking because he didn't know if he'd be able to secure his favorite venue for their wedding. When Kite Man arrived he was confronted by his nemesis, the Condiment King, who was vying for the same venue as him. Ivy reiterated that they could get married wherever, but he refused to yield, prompting the Condiment King to blast him with mustard to make him appear unkempt. Kite Man became dejected as a result, but Ivy supported him and they went before the manager together - until Ivy had to leave to save Harley from Mr. Freeze. He was left on the line until Ivy called him asking him to find an ingredient from her garden, giving him an excuse to leave.

He went to Ivy's garden and has trouble finding the right ingredient, accidentally sniffing a paralytic flower before finding it. He then flew to Mr. Freeze's domain with the ingredient and became paralyzed at the last moment, crashing into the mansion to present the ingredient to Ivy. Afterward Ivy helped him back to the Gotham Mall and apologized for leaving and losing him the venue. He accepted the apology easily until the Condiment King called him to gloat, frustrating him and Ivy.

"Inner (Para) Demons"

Kite Man is concerned that Ivy didn't make the reservation at Senor Mexico's [sic] like he asked her to, and ranted briefly before picking up on Ivy's unease. He immediately changed tact and became concerned for her, but she assured him that she's fine and that she'd do what she could to wow his parents. At the restaurant itself, Kite Man tried to get a table to no avail, until his parents (who already had a table) waved him over and chastised him for not getting a reservation. In response, Ivy tossed a couple out of their favorite booth with her powers, lightening their mood and rescuing Kite Man.

Hell Yeah

"Hell! Yeah!"

Ivy got along swimmingly with his parents, prompting Kite Man to say his "Hell yeah" catchphrase, only for his parents to chastise him for swearing and order him to get a new catchphrase, which he meekly accepted. Ivy, however, was not willing to accept it, and launched into a blistering tirade when his mother insulted him, calling his parents "ghouls" and claiming that she's lucky to have Kite Man, not the other way around. Enraged, Kite Man's parents left after Kite Man, not exactly displeased with the situation, followed the tirade up with his catchphrase (although he still wondered if they'll come to the wedding). Ivy immediately attacks him with a volley of kisses until she noticed a massive Boom Tube in the sky, which Kite Man immediately identified as being directly over the Gotham Mall, near Harley.

Kite Man flew them both to the Boom Tube, the area around which had already devolved into Hellish pandemonium, and dropped Ivy off. Eventually he returned to Ivy just before Harley could express her love for Ivy, talking about how much he loves Ivy himself (with Ivy reciprocating). He then kisses her in full view of Harley, completely oblivious to the pain in Harley's eyes. Capricious, he then leaves to get a picture of a Parademon humping a taco truck.

"Bachelorette"

Kite Man had his bachelor party with King Shark, Clayface, and Frank the Plant out on a boat in the open sea. He specifically did not want any strippers or other temptations, preferring a few beers and a puzzle. Eventually a talking lobster named Samson scuttled onboard and accosted King Shark, and although Kite Man wondered if King Shark owed the lobster money and offered his support, the lobster managed to browbeat King Shark into leaving the boat for the sea floor.

Near the end of Kite Man's bachelor party, he was eager to see Ivy again, the love of his life. King Shark then arrived, having gotten married to his betrothed, Tabitha. This was shocking to Kite Man, that King Shark could get married to someone he'd never even met, without even getting rejected repeatedly as he had been by Poison Ivy. King Shark responded that he and Tabitha made an arrangement where they would both have secret relationships, because he wanted to have a true soulmate, which Kite Man readily agreed to, saying that it's exactly what he had with Ivy.

"A Fight Worth Fighting For"

Fon-damn it!
— Kite Man

Kite Man prepared his wedding with Poison Ivy, but became concerned over her rush, worrying about her. With the Parademons destroying everything, he asked if she didn't want to postpone for better conditions, but she vehemently said she wanted to move on with her life and that she loved him, which Kite Man appreciated. At the dress fitting however, he protested that Harley should be the one to help pick her dress, as it's tradition that the groom not see his wife's dress until the wedding day. She reassures him that he's the best person for the job, so he begins his critique, but two Parademons burst into the fitting room and ruin Ivy's 13,000 dress. After Ivy kills the beasts, she has Kite Man hold her hair, saying "yeah sure honey".

"Lovers' Quarrel"

Seeing Ivy attempt to kill Harley, Kite Man swooped down and dexterously pulled Harley away from danger. He explained that Doctor Psycho had taken control of her mind, and that they had to do something, because the wedding is tomorrow. He brought Harley to his apartment, where he cautioned Harley not to get close to Doctor Psycho lest he command her mind as well.

Harley Quinn
Zombie eye, zombie eye!
Kite Man
Wait, wait! My kite senses are fluttering.
— After Sy Borgman's mechanical eye blinks

Kite Man stopped Harley from destroying Sy Borgman's eye (which she was examining) when he noticed that the eye was blinking in Morse Code. At Harley's questioning, Kite Man explained that kiters all over knew Morse Code, and that he did indeed have sex with Ivy. He then translated the code as "plug me in", at which point several RCA connectors sprouted from the eye. After plugging them into a TV, Sy Borgman came onscreen and explained how he could resist Doctor Psycho's mind-control, so Kite Man asked how they could similarly protect themselves. While the construction of an anti-mind-control device is simple, the components are not at hand, so while they pondered they noticed the Justice League flying by to kill Ivy, prompting Kite Man to wonder who on earth thought to release the Justice League from the book they were trapped in.

Sy Borgman set Kite Man to creating the anti-mind-control devices the long way, without the quick components, but Kite Man had trouble with the process which annoyed Harley Quinn, saying that the "person I love is gonna die" unless he went faster. Suspicious, he wondered what she meant by that, and although she brushed it off she still seemed suspicious. With no option, Harley took one of his kites to save Ivy. Kite Man warned her that she needed training to do so, but she was able to effortlessly fly with perfection on the first try. Kite Man continued working on the device until it was completed, and when he activated it, Sy Borgman was brought into the wider internet so that he could assume control of household appliances to more rapidly build the anti-mind-control device.

Poor Chuck

Charles Brown is rewarded for his faith

After completing the device, Kite Man flew in search of Ivy until he found her, carrying Harley, so he whistled down to get Harley's attention before flying out of sight. When she arrived, Kite Man flew down while everyone was distracted, put one device in Harley's ear, and gave the second one to her to put in Ivy's ear if his plan failed. His plan was to kiss Ivy and bring her back with the power of love, so he came before her and professed his love for her and then kissed her - to no effect, so Ivy simply knocked him unconscious. When he wakes, Doctor Psycho shows him Ivy's infidelity with Harley, shredding Kite Man's heart.

Personality

Nice

"Nice"

Kite Man is quite perverted and unashamedly so, occasionally making "69" jokes and talking about "dat ass" while talking to Poison Ivy, and taking any opportunity to compliment her "bangin'" body. When they first met, he even went straight to her bedroom and disrobed in anticipation of having sex, although he sincerely apologized for misreading the situation. He is also unusually confident, referring to his kites as a "superpower" and not even hesitating to shoot "out of his league" by pursuing Poison Ivy. Insults and belittlements of his skill wash right off him, and he continues with a rarely broken cheerful and confident attitude about everything.

Despite his obsession with sex, immaturity, and other such faults, he keeps his attentions and praises focused solely on Ivy, and although he does indeed shrug off insults and worse from other people, he genuinely does care what Ivy thinks and particularly what she thinks of him. Her initial insults to him are some of the few that genuinely bother him, and his dogged determination to shower Ivy with compliments does make her feel beautiful and loved, appreciating his clumsy compliment about her smile and his gift of roses with a proper planter to keep them alive. As Ivy puts it, against "all reason and logic" she did genuinely like him in return until later events saw their relationship end.

Kite Man proposes

Kite Man proposes without any ring

Kite Man takes pride and joy in validation, such as when Ivy publicly admitted to be his girlfriend, when she didn't reject his proposal of marriage, and when Harley's crew appreciated him for saving them from Queen of Fables' mythological giant. He takes pride in his work, constantly building new kites, and although he often failed, he repeatedly attempted to come to Ivy's defense on the ground. On the flip side, he became deeply hurt when he learned that Ivy was ashamed to be seen with him, although he was understanding and forgiving when Ivy sincerely apologized. When Ivy died, he was so devastated that he stayed by her grave for days. Quintessentially, Kite Man is a shameless, immature, but honest man who nevertheless tries his best to stand up for those he loves.
