Jason Woodrue is a character on Harley Quinn and was Pamela Isley's university professor and ex-boyfriend. He is also responsible for her becoming Poison Ivy. Years later, she got her revenge, accidentally dooming him to the same fate as he was mutated and became the Floronic Man.
Biography[]
Background[]
Sometime in the past, Woodrue was a college professor teaching a class to students Pamela Isley, but secretly, the pair was romantically involved. After the pair slept together in his lab, Pamela revealed her latest project: a sentient plant she'd named Frank. Exhilarated, Jason revealed his true colors to Isley, stating his intention to take full credit for her work, secure additional grant funding, and further his career. When Pamela resists this, Jason threatens her, and the argument turns physical as their struggle causes toxins to be released into the room.
He traps Pamela Isley in a room after it is infected with green gas, leaving her to die. Pamela begged him not to do this, but Jason coldly abandoned her and voiced his plan to return for the plant since it is poison-resistant. In desperation, Pamela injected herself with a serum, turning her into part plant so she could survive, and thus Poison Ivy was born. Jason evaded detection, and people believed that she died in an accident.
Season 5[]
Years later, Poison Ivy unintentionally bumps into Jason again as the two are paired up to work on the Green initiative at The Metropolis Botany Research Center. Jason was shocked by her survival and mutation, and Ivy, who was even more shaken, ran off. Later, he tries to apologize, but Ivy gets her revenge by using her power to torture the pleading Jason and using the same chemicals he used on her in the room. However, she repeated his mistake by leaving the room and being unaware that her actions led to him turning him into part plant, too.
For a full day, Pamela was tortured by recurring visions of Jason but kept telling herself that he was dead for as she and the public believed. Unfortunately, a brief rest caused her to be haunted by a new mutated Jason. Dubbing himself Floronic Man, he confirmed to Pamela that he survived but got mutated, leading him to develop powers like her. Jason showed he could shift forms as he briefly took on his original face, but Ivy found it disturbing. He also admitted that he was initially angry but quickly overcame it with his new powers.
He then proceeds to attack Ivy to kill her for good mentally, this time inside her mind while she is meditating. Frank then sensed Ivy was in trouble and tried to help her, but he was overwhelmed by Jason's new powers. Harley Quinn then tries to save Ivy, but to no avail. She then realizes to save Ivy and Frank, she has to find Jason's unconscious mutated body and kill him for good. She eventually finds him and proceeds to hack his body with a power saw brutally. Jason wakes up and tries to kill Harley as well, but she manages to kill Jason once and for all and save Ivy and Frank.
