Synopsis[]

After a devastating loss, Ivy vows to bring the murderer to justice, but a surprise team member stands in her way.

Plot[]

A funeral is held for Frank where several plants, Chaz smoking a joint, Bane, Lena, Harley, and Ivy. Shark later arrives apologizing for being late, stating Shaun was the cause.

Although Harley wanted Ivy to give the opening eulogy, she was too emotional to give it, so Lena suggested that Harley do it instead. She gives some poignant remarks about Frank and plays a video recorded by Frank, who cracks a joke about having two left feet, which doesn't get a laugh from anyone. Frank realizes that and remarks that he should have gone with a dick joke, which he claims always gets a laugh, and Bane cracks a raspberry and agrees. Frank then lists numerous things he requests to be done in his honor.

Reaching number 576 on Frank's list of requests, Ivy loses her nerve and proclaims she'll find and rip out the gonads of whoever killed Frank. Harley then interjects Ivy's proclamation and stops to reveal the sprouting popping up from the ground that Frank from the video explains was Frankette, Frank's offspring composed of his and Ivy's DNA. As Ivy takes Frankette out of the ground, Frankette bursts into tears and hands her over to Harley, stating she can't do it.

Harley tries to rock Frankette to sleep at the condo as Ivy tries to delve into the Green. When Harley finally manages to put Frankette to sleep, Shaun appears from a flower basket and tries to eat Frankette. He then tells Harley that he escaped from his dad to stay with them. Asking for Ivy's help, Ivy tells Harley she can't as she's trying to contact Frank's spirit through the Green so he can tell her who killed him. Hearing Ivy makes Harley psycho-analyze why Ivy was acting toward Frankette, which makes Ivy lash out and upset Frankette.

The doorbell rings, and Shaun answers it, revealing Lena, who had come bearing the gift of information. That information was she knew who killed Frank. Snapping out of her trance, Ivy demanded to know who did it, and Lena revealed that Brainiac had done it, claiming it was for ruining his perfect plan. Ivy vows to kill Brainiac, and Harley insists that she tag along, noting they are a deadly duo who took out Jason Woodrue together. Harley's remark made Ivy become emotional, stating that Frank would have found that funny. Lena insists that they do something or else innocent people's lives will be lost, and they should come to her place; she can get them onto his ship with her teleporter. Ivy and Harley planned to accept Lena's offer, but had the problem of who would watch over Shaun and Frankette while they were gone.

When they visit Bane's home, Ivy and Harley ask him to watch over Frankette and Shaun while they handle their situation together. He initially agrees to do it; however, upon finding a note in Goldilocks's lunch box, he reads in part that she's been detained for speaking out of turn for two weeks. This makes Bane proclaim that no one has the right to punish Goldi, but him. So, Ivy and Harley leave Frankette and Shaun in Bane's hands as he goes to the Dutch Immersion school to sort out Goldi's situation.

At Lena's condo, Lena leads Ivy and Harley into her teleportation room, where she wants to review how they'll proceed to take out Brainiac. However, Harley and Ivy take a more bare-knuckle approach. Despite Lena's protests, Ivy activates the teleporter and teleports herself and Harley onto Brainiac's ship. Harley immediately regrets not allowing Lena to tell them how to proceed, but Ivy states they didn't need Lena to tell them how to proceed and suggests they split up.

Going her separate way, Harley finds Brainiac watching a video recording of Clayface's play, where he bemoans the loss of Koko. Brainiac breaks the fourth wall and apologizes for the mess, saying he's come to realize that Koko was dead and believes he is insane because of it. He states it's like the musical said and wished for a happy ending, but it did not. Seeing the depressed Brainiac sitting on his chair, she approaches him and asks who he's talking to. Brainiac states the audience, and Harley then calls out Ivy and says she's found Brainiac, who has gone nuts. Ivy arrives and tries to use her powers to attack Brainiac, but can't because there are no plants there.

The two then try and remove the cables lodged into Brainiac's head, but fail. They then bicker on how they'll kill Brainiac, who stops the play he was watching to have his Automation Sentries destroy Metropolis. Brainiac claims he was planning to do it later, but since they were threatening to kill him, he decided to do it now. Harley demands to know why Brainiac was doing that, and he claims that in his realization of being insane, he's fouled up Metropolis beyond repair. Hence, he'll burn it down and start it up back anew.

On one of Brainiac's screens, Harley sees the part in Clayface's performance where he sings the song "Bottle It Up." Getting an idea, Harley takes the Hyper-Ray and sings along with Clayface. She hands the gun to Ivy and starts dancing with Brainiac, who loves the song. Although Ivy thought it was inappropriate, Harley told Ivy to listen to the lyrics and do what it says. As Harley sings the lyrics to the song while dancing with Brainiac, Ivy follows the instructions to the song to use the Hyper-Ray to shrink Brainiac and trap him in a glass case. Ivy relishes Brainiac's predicament, pondering how they'll kill him, but Harley realizes that Metropolis is on fire.

Meanwhile, Bane, Shaun, and Frankette break into Goldi's Dutch Immersion classroom, where she and her fellow students learn from their teacher. The teacher tells Bane to voice his complaint in Dutch, which Bane does. As he does, the Automation Sentries continue destroying Metropolis.

From Brainiac's ship, Harley and Ivy spot Bane and the others at the school, and Ivy demands that Brainiac tell them how to stop the robots. However, Brainiac questions why, stating they were going to kill him, citing they thought he killed Frank. Ivy retorts that he did, but Brainiac shows a video revealing that Lena had killed Frank by stabbing him multiple times, leaving Ivy in shock. She then leaves Brainiac's ship to kill Lena and has Harley take care of saving Metropolis.

Ivy teleports back to Lena's condo, where she confronts Lena, who is initially pleased to see her until she realizes that Ivy knows the truth about Frank's death. Lena dodges Ivy's vines and uses the teleporter to escape to Brainiac's ship. While trying to pursue her, Ivy passes out and is sent to the Green, where the Ghost of Frank speaks to her. He requests that Ivy temporarily drop her plans for revenge against Lena and instead save Frankette.

At the Dutch Immersion School, the robots begin to destroy the building, and Bane destroys one of them with a chair. It retaliates by blasting Bane through a wall. He then picks up Goldi, puts her on his shoulders, and tells the students to follow his lead as he destroys several robots with a table. Ivy then arrives and demands to know where Frankette is. Bane tells her that the last he saw of her, she left and leaped out of his hands. Just then, the destroyed robot parts form into a single larger robot, making Bane have the children safely leave while Ivy handles the large robot. From the smoke, Frankette appears and uses one of her vines to attack the larger robot, and Ivy takes a moment to bond with her. Bane and Ivy try to fight against the robot, causing the school to collapse and become at the robot's mercy.

From the ship, Harley scrambles to shut down the robots; she's then joined by Lena, to whom Harley offers anything in exchange for stopping the robots and saving the city. Lena accepts the offer and rescues Ivy's group. However, Harley curses Lena and threatens to kill her, but she's teleported back to Metropolis before she can.

Afterward, Ivy spoon-feeds Frankette in her chair and praises Harley for saving Metropolis. She also mentions that Frank would be so proud of her. Out of guilt, Harley admits that Lena was the one to have saved Metropolis, and in exchange for it, she wanted something in return, but didn't specify what. Right as Harley assures Ivy that she won't take anything else from them, a robot appears and steals Frankette, and Ivy blames Harley.

On Brainiac's ship, Lena, with Frankette in her possession, tells the curious Brainiac that she has no real desire for Frankette, but Harley and Ivy do. She also comments that they're weak if they're not together. Lena then has Brainiac's cables attach themselves to her head while remarking that despite how smart Brainiac is, he was outwitted by a lowly human like her. Observing Metropolis on her screen, Lena sees how she'll make Metropolis her playground.
