After the Joker was turned "sane" at the end of "The Final Joke" he started dating Benicio's mother and was eventually introduced to him and Sophia. Benicio is mentioned a couple of times during a nightmare that Joker has.
He then appears with his family in a TV-sitcom-like intro entitled JOKER. Joker later mentions Benicio and Sophia when he talks to Janice, the school receptionist.
During a conversation between Joker and Bethany, Joker mentions how frustrated he was when he once picked up Benicio from soccer practice, and they mocked his name. He's then told it's dinner time by Joker as he was watching the mayoral debate between the Mayor of Gotham and Jim Gordon. Joker turns off the TV and reminds them no TV, and Benicio worries he thinks he saw someone die, but Joker brushes it off.
Eating at the dinner table, Bethany asked Benicio Sophia if they couldn't take the dual immersion class and what other one they would like to take. When his mother personally asked him what he'd like to do, Benicio asked to be called just Ben, which triggered Bethany.
Benicio was indirectly mentioned during a conversation between Joker and Debbie about the dual immersion program.
Again, Benicio and his family eat dinner at the table as the Joker enjoys the news report surrounding him. Benicio gets disappointed when he learns that Joker can't attend his soccer game so that he can participate in his mayoral parade.
During the parade, Two-Face contacts Joker and reveals that he's kidnapped his son. Left with two choices, his potential voters and Benicio, Joker chooses Benicio. Joker later contacts Bethany to inform her of Benicio's predicament.
After Joker arrives, he is given two choices: have his son die or drop out of the race. Joker chooses to drop out, stating that he only joined the race for his family. Still, Two-Face betrays their expectations and runs the roller coaster they were on anyway. Thankfully in the end, Gordon rescues the two.
Outside, Benicio has a bonding moment with Joker and then walks away to enjoy tacos with his mother and Joker.
Benicio joins his family at Gotham City Hall to celebrate Joker becoming Gotham's newest mayor.

The family embraces villainy
Joker had gathered his family around the dinner table for a family meeting for a big announcement. However, Benicio criticized him for mixing English and Spanish, which he mostly ignored. Benicio was shocked when the Joker announced that he was returning to villainy but quickly recovered, asking if he would provide him with poison gas for his science project. Bethany finally got on board, the whole family laughed manically as Joker asked "who wants to go steal some soft serve?".

Armed with a bike chain, Benicio, alongside her brother, came up behind Harley Quinn, who was beating up their mother to force her to give up Joker's location. He stood beside her as Sophia warned her to get out, and the pair were not scared by Harley's threats. However, as Harley pointed her knife at the children, Bethany relented and gave up Joker. Later, Benicio watched sadly from the window as Harley dragged the tied-up Joker away from the house.
